Austin’s Economy One Of The Strongest In Country CoStar Market Insights: Apple’s Just The Latest Feather In Austin’s Cap Austin's job growth doubled the U.S. average over the past year. As the new year is underway, Austin’s economy seems to be on firm footing. Even before Apple's announcement that it would expand operations there, Austin's economy continues to add jobs at a breakneck pace. Austin has added 35,200 jobs over the past 12 months, as of the November 2018 Bureau of Labor Statistics release. That’s equivalent to a 3.3 percent growth over the past year, which ranks seventh in the country. Job growth has occurred at all ends of the wage spectrum as well. Austin has added nearly 8,000 professional and business services jobs, about half of which are professional, scientific and technical jobs. And on the other end of the spectrum, there have been about 13,000 jobs added in the trade, transportation and utilities sector, which included retail jobs. Apple’s plans for a second campus in Austin, which includes hiring at least 5,000 new employees (and room up to 15,000), is sure to give job growth a boost. #isocommercial #commercialrealestate @loopnet
